The White Man's New Burden

Here is an important question from Yves Engler:

If you take a nation’s mineral resources do you have a moral responsibility to also accept its people?

The same question applies to the United States.

NAFTA destroyed the traditional economy of Mexico, and neoliberal policies invented here and enforced by US-backed central banks and military forces have done much the same to the rest of the "free world". Don't we then have a moral responsibility to take in anyone affected by this?

I would say "yes", but with the following caveat:

We The People did not create this situation - the ELITES did. Let THEM pay the cost of taking such people in, since they were the primary (if not the only) beneficiaries of such treaties and policies in the first place.
