The Mark Of The Beast And The Number Of His Name

For some time I have been blogging about the meaning of the so-called "mark of the beast" and of the "number of his name". In this post I expand on those two concepts.

Previously I speculated that the "mark" was something like a military salute, a near universal gesture involving the forehead and the right hand:

I believe this is a persuasive argument because of what the Bible says about the "number of his name". That phrase (or a variant of it) appears several times in the Bible:

  • 17 times in the Book of Numbers
  • 1 time in 1 Chronicles
  • 1 time in the Book of Acts
  • 2 times in the Book of Revelation

In each instance it refers to a census:

(a) In the Book of Numbers and 1 Chronicles, it refers to the number of males able to go forth to war, or to the number of males available for the priesthood, or to the number of males eligible for the inheritance.

(b) In the Book of Acts, it refers to the number of the disciples of Jesus.

(c) In the Book of Revelation, it appears to mean the number of the followers of the beast - either the number of persons in his army or the number of those in his priesthood. Considering its meaning in all 19 other instances, it makes no sense that here it would refer to some variation of the letters in his name as is commonly believed (i.e., the theory of gematria).

Taking that thought one step further, what can be found on the forehead and the arm of members of the IDF and of those who are engaged in prayer? Here are some pictures of those items:

The significance of these phylacteries (tefillin) can be found in these scriptures:

And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.
Exodus 13:9 KJV

And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.
Exodus 13:16 KJV

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Deuteronomy 6:8 KJV

Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
Deuteronomy 11:18 KJV

Now let's examine some similar items found on persons who do not appear to be either in the army of G-d, in the priesthood, or engaged in prayer:

Note the similarity in form and placement to the phylacteries. But are these items being used in the service of or for the glorification of G-d? I submit to you that they are not. Quite the opposite.

Might they then represent the "mark" of those who are counted in the "number of the name" of the beast?

Give some thought to this. Your future may depend on it in more ways than one.

  1. After writing this entry, I just realized that today is one of the three days each year on which the Gate of Hell is open (see http://sainthoward.blogspot.com/2016/01/will-next-us-president-be-beast-of.html).

The next day on which it will be open is November 8, when we will chose between either Hillary or Donald.

    G-d help us.
