Yet Again, FBI Knew The Shooter

Is there maybe a disturbing pattern here?

Mateen killed 53 people and shot more than 100 in total at the Pulse gay nightclub early Sunday morning, in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

The senior law enforcement source reports that Mateen became a person of interest in 2013 and again in 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation into Mateen but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation.

“He’s a known quantity,” the source said. “He’s been on the radar before.”

Likewise, the FBI knew about the alleged Boston Marathon bombers but did not stop them. They even had Lee Harvey Oswald on their payroll but did nothing to stop him, either.

Something is terribly wrong with the way the US government is conducting surveillance. Its chief goal seems to be protecting itself, while offering no protection at all for We The People.

When is this going to stop?

Update - According to a coworker, the alleged shooter "talked about killing people all the time". Why then did the FBI decide he posed no threat?
