Sugar Not So Sweet For The Workers

In this documentary, filmmakers go undercover to expose the conditions on sugar plantations in the Dominican Republic. Haitian cane cutters are treated like slaves and make $2 per day. The beneficiaries are American sugar barons and even one Republican presidential candidate.

And I doubt TPP, TTIP, TISA, or any other "trade" deal will help this situation.

Someday soon, robots will be used to harvest the cane. This will stop the human slavery but also take away their only income. Then what?
