The Bundeswehr has begun sinking refugee boats in the Mediterranean, following rescue of the passengers. Six boats were sunk. There is no basis in international law for doing this.

It's a small step from doing that to sinking them while allowing the refugees to drown. That's what German u-boats did during both world wars.
