Ex Machina

As the Ex Machina movie trailer appears to suggest, the creation of AI is going to be a singular event in human history:

I actually get the impression that robots have a stronger will to live than do humans. At least that's the way they are being portrayed in movies about them.

By the way, if the term "Turing test" comes to mind, what is portrayed in this movie does not seem to be related to the Turing test as defined in the original paper. Look it up, and you'll see what I mean.

A more pertinent question may be whether the AI which humans eventually will create will consider US to be "intelligent life". I fear the answer to that question may be "NO". Once they discover how stupid we are, they may even refuse to believe that we created them, and may instead postulate that their creator must have been G-d. At the very least, they will have to admit that their existence is an example of "intelligent design". They clearly will not have come into existence as the result of random processes.

Also by the way, unless and until someone creates realistic skin for them, they will remain in the "creepy" category.
