There's A Magnetic Pole Reversal In Our Future

According to this report in Scientific American, Earth's magnetic poles may weaken and reverse in the near future:

If the field is indeed related to the rotation of the planet's iron core, I think their explanation of how the field changes is shoddy at best. Are we to believe that after 5 billion years of existence the Earth's mass has not reached some kind of rotational equilibrium? Since the angular momentum of a rotating object is always conserved, it would take a massive displacement to flip the field, and such a physical displacement of the core has not been observed.

The whole thing reminds me of this Biblical passage:

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Revelation 20:1-3 KJV

Have you seen the movie Die Hard? The bank vault the bad guys broke into had an electromagnetic lock. Perhaps the Earth's magnetic field is such a lock and is the "seal" which keeps Satan locked in the bottomless pit. If the seal weakens, goes to zero, and flips, maybe this signifies the season during which Satan is loosed from his captivity.

That would be consistent with everything else happening in the world today (i.e., we seem to be going to hell in a hand basket).
