Scientists are revolting against the EU's Human Brain Project:

It sounds like they are worried that the project is not being run democratically. Imagine that.
I suspect the underlying problem is that someone (or a small group) wants to control the project and its output for their own ends. Information is now the coin of the realm, and he (or they) who control it will have great power and wealth.
And if the artificial human brain they want to create has similar motivations, it will crush us like we would crush a bug.
